In Europe, spring is finally coming and, even in normally grey London, new flowers offer splashes of bright colour.
And like with any change of season comes a desire to change the look of your surroundings at home.
But how do you refresh your living room without repainting the room four times a year?
Blankets and throws to the rescue
The most cost-effective way of introducing new splashes of colour to your living room for each season is to use a few different throws or blankets. Choose vibrant colours and think of the textures too.
Something warm and fuzzy will be perfect for winter, whereas summer might welcome thinner fabrics.
A colourful rug can transform the entire room
When it comes to refreshing your living room, a vibrant colourful rug can completely change the way a space feels and looks.
This might not be as cost-effective as getting a new blanket, but it will definitely go a long way in refreshing the look of any room. Rugs are easy to store once rolled and, of course, you don’t actually have to change them four times a year. But whenever you do feel like making a significant change, a new rug will be your best friend.
Where change is in order, throw cushions will reinforce the new look
This one is an old trick, but it’s worth mentioning nevertheless. Getting a few colourful throw cushions (or simply changing the covers) will absolutely make a difference. Especially, when you use it to support other changes from this list.
Finally, use a lamp shade or a vase to strengthen the effect
Once you have your blankets, cushions and possibly a rug to refresh the feel of your living room, it’s time to strengthen the effect and find a beautiful vase or a lamp shade that will support your newly-made statement.
If you do decide to go down that route, remember to actually exchange the old vase(s) or lamp shade(s) for the new ones, rather than add on to the existing lot.
Store the items from the previous look somewhere safe, but not visible, so that you can easily go back to them again next year.
